3Mar2009: Day 281: Come Ear

I forgot to mention yesterday that Chris got Makenna into watching Wallace and Gromit or wawace and grimace and she calls it. Plus, when we went to the park yesterday to see Hannah, I took her bike but ended up pushing it by it’s handle the whole way there as she didn’t care to ride on it. But then on the way home she did agree but she wouldn’t keep her feet on the pedals and kept dragging them and getting them stuck under the back tires. I also had to keep turning the handles to face forward so that we weren’t going in circles. It was a much longer walk home than there.

We decided to go to the library for story time in the afternoon and took Hannah and family with us. I signed up for a library card and got a few books out. Makenna was a terror. She kept taking books out of the shelves or storage bins and handing them to me or throwing them. I finally made her sit on a chair away from everything for her two minute time-out except that she wouldn’t sit so it ended up being about a fifteen minute ordeal. When she finally did do her two minutes the coloring time was over. She also kept pulling DVD cases off the shelves, but I told her we weren’t getting any movies as I couldn’t see paying over a pound to rent a movie that we could get on tv for free from free-view.

The two of them, Hannah and Makenna are quite a pair. As soon as we got Hannah into the car to go to the library, she goes “wakka wakka and Hanna” Wakka Wakka is how Hannah says Makenna. At one point at the library, Makenna was crying, this other little girl was crying, so Hannah started but hers was obviously fake and sympathy crying. All I could say was imagine these two as friends when they’re teenagers – all the trouble that would ensue.

We had a nice surprise tonight as Chris was supposed to be away for the night but came home unexpectedly. So even though it scared me half to death to hear someone coming through the door it was nice that he was able to come home.

Makenna’s word for today was “come ear.” She says it for “come here.” She kept saying it over and over today everywhere we went. When we were in the library, she was running up and down the book isles saying “come ear, come ear.” She also came home with a spare shirt I packed for her from nursery today. Which means that she got hers soaking wet, yet again, from playing in the colored water. Her arms had a bunch of different colors on it too from some sort of painting they must have done. I wasn’t sure if she had some sort of rash or if it was just faded red paint at first. Luckily it was the latter.
